Why I Chose Mardi Himal Trek (and You Should Too)
I wanted to see big mountains without a long, crowded trek. Everyone was talking about Everest and Annapurna. But a local guide smiled and said, “Try Mardi Trek. Quiet trail. Big view.”
So I did. And wow, I still can’t stop thinking about it.
What Is the Mardi Trek?
Mardi Himal Trek is a short trek in Nepal’s Annapurna region. It takes about 5–7 days, depending on how fast you want to go. The highest point is Mardi Base Camp at around 4,500 meters.
And here’s the best part: from there, you get crazy-good views of Machapuchare (Fishtail), Annapurna South, and Hiunchuli, without the crowds of Annapurna Base Camp.
What It Was Like (From a First-Time Trekker)
The trail starts near Pokhara, which means no long bus rides. Right from the start, the trail goes through green forests, small teahouses, and ridge lines with sky-high views.
One moment I was walking under trees. The next, I was above the clouds.
I saw yaks, eagles, and one very confident goat. The people were kind, the dal bhat was hot, and the sunsets? Fire.
